If there is a multi-faceted
dynamic group like Ntwine, Ms. Babes Newland
or “Tita Babes” as how she’s
fondly called, is one multi-tasking band manager. Her motto being,
“If there is one thing worth doing, it’s worth
doing it well”. She made sure to excel in whatever
fields of endeavor she puts her heart into. Having worked with
various embassies during the past 20 years as Commercial Specialist
for Finland, Sweden and the Canadian Provincial Government of
Quebec as Commercial Attacheé, Tita Babes earned excellent
reputation in the field of bilateral trade promotion.
But as an old adage goes,
one will always yearn for his/her first love. And MUSIC is Tita
Babes’ one true love. Shortly after the university where
she took up Communication Arts, she became one of the original
main vocalists of a group called “Hall of Fame” during
the late 70s/80s. But her singing career came to a halt when her
father passed away and she was suddenly beset with responsibilities
to send her young siblings to school.
Her first taste of managing
a band was through her siblings’ group called REtroSPECT
wherein she was responsible for coining in name so aptly. Soon
after, REtroSPECT became a local group to reckon with when it
comes to great musicality and incredibly unique packaging.
She formed Ntwine in 2000
with the vision of molding young talented musicians into one superb-sounding
group and with good looks to match.
She’s also Ntwine’s
overall trainor, repertoire specialist/musical director; stylist;
fashion/image consultant; and last but not the least, a professional
makeup artist having earned certification with distinction from
the world-renowned Toni & Guy of London.
Tita Babes is the formidable
force behind Ntwine. In all of of her 4 years managing the group,
Ntwine has undergone 2 major reconstructions, so to speak.. And
each time such changes occurred, Tita Babes has managed to come
up with fresher creation/reinvention of ideas/images for the group.
These changes happened as if they were necessary for Tita Babes
to achieve the best edition, or her “dream” team of
what is now to be known as the 3rd generation of Ntwine.
After the success of Ntwine’s
debut album/CD Light under Viva Records plus a music video of
their carrier single to boot, Tita Babes hopes to come up with
their full album sometime early next year that will primarily
feature not only original compositions but some revivals as well.
Apart from that, she has started lining up plans for Ntwine to
go international not only in the recording arena but in live concerts/shows
as well.
Lastly, she would like
to thank Rustan’s U for believing in the group as effective
image endorsers of their stylishly cool and hip outfits specifically
catered to the trendy young adults.
